review

Here's my review of the Singapore GP 2008 Formula 1 First Ever Night Race:

only 1 word can describe the Formula 1 First Ever Night Race...breathtaking...when i 1st arrived at the circuit on friday morning, i asked myself - "where the hell am i?" cos the roads around the Marina Bay area looked really different with all the barricades around the circuit...it feels as if i am not in Singapore but in actual fact, i have driven on dat roads many many times before...it just looked very different...and when the hell did they put up the barricades/grandstands and even managed to dig a tunnel to link the exclusive Paddocks Club from Republic Boulevard...?!?! when the first F1 practice session started on friday at 7pm, i get to see, feel, hear the power of an F1 car and it blew me away...the lights all around the circuit and the view of Singapore skyscrapers made it even better...and on sunday's race day, i was so totally not prepared for the flagged off at 8pm...the noise coming out from just one F1 car is deafening but still bearable for me...but with 20 F1 cars at the starting grid and the drivers revving their engines almost made my head exploded...and when all the red lights turned green, i thank god dat my head didnt explode cos the noise was sooooooooooooooooooooo loud and clever me, i didnt bring my ear plugs along...but, i was too awestruck to care whether i am going to go deaf or not...the race has everything dat every F1 fan wished to have...accidents? nelson piquet and kimi raikonnen...who says the drivers can't overtake? Lewis Hamilton did so many times...anybody expected Fernando Alonso to win? i didnt think so cos favourites were on Hamilton, Massa or Raikkonen but Alonso did the unexpected...this race certainly make Singapore look a little bigger on the world map...heh! The few downside of the events would be: the bumpy roads/tracks which made sparks when car drive on em...the toilets are pathetic...the organisers should have gotten a better makeshift toilets cos the one dat they have in the venue, the urinal looks like a sink! some blur sotong may not know which is which! the cost of the food? i cant complain much...but the most disappointing of all would be the cost of the merchandise...a cap can cost up to $70, a t-shirt $80, polo tee $120 and button up shirt? a whopping $200 !!! even a miniature F1 car cost $20 i think...i would love to get a Ferrari, Mclaren or even a BMW merchandise as a souvenier but it was WAY WAY WAY AWAY over my budget...so i had to settle with Torro Rosso and Red Bull polo tees(which i bought at Puma shop at Ngee Ann City instead)...but all in all, many2 thumbs up to all those people who make this happened successfully...i am so looking forward for next year's race and the one after dat and after dat...many2 years down the road, i always remember that I was part of the Formula 1 First Ever Night Race...I was there when all of that happened.
